At Shippensburg, Mount Rock, and Allen Road Animal Hospital, our veterinarians perform comprehensive wellness exams to keep your pet happy and healthy. These wellness exams are also important because they enable our veterinarians to keep a comprehensive health report for your pet or farm animal.

What Our Comprehensive Wellness Exams Entail

At our three hospitals, our veterinarians have over 50 years of experience providing the best care possible for your pet. During our wellness exams, our veterinarians evaluate your animal from head-to-tail and notify you of any health problems we find.

These exams Include:

  • Bodyweight and temperature checks
  • Careful inspection of the eyes, ears, and nose
  • Thorough palpation (examination by touching) of the lymph nodes and other internal organs
  • Assessment of teeth and gum health
  • Evaluation of heart and lung condition
  • Evaluation of the muscles, spine, and joints

During every examination, our veterinarians take detailed records of their findings and store them in your pet’s medical chart. Should we find any health problems of concern, we will notify you right away and develop a treatment plan specific to your pet’s individual needs. This treatment plan can include recommended vaccinations, prescription diet food, certain supplements or medications, or even further testing.

Taking your pet in for annual check-ups promotes a healthy, long life. For all senior animals, we recommend bringing them in every six months or sooner if recommended in your pet’s treatment plan.
